In the bag

All of us lose things. Sometimes we don't even realize they're lost. Remember the feeling of desperation as you checked your pockets for the fifth time just to make sure you didn't miss it? Lost objects have a way of staying lost, only to turn up months after you've given up looking and forgotten all about them. Finding things lost by other people works the same way. You don't usually look for lost purses or wallets on purpose. It happens usually doing something else.

You're walking down the street when you come across a closed black briefcase. There's no one else around, and when you open it to check for the owner's name, out spills a bundle of cash. What is your first reaction to this sudden windfall?

I've been in this situation, and the thing I did isn't amongst these options. :p I send the guy a message on facebook, so he could get his stuff back - money included.

None of the above. I'd keep looking through the briefcase to see if there's any identification or clues that could help me find the owner. Then I'd hand it in to the police. I wouldn't take any of the money.

1. Stop right there and consider the possibility that they might be counterfeit. If not counterfeit, return it to the person. If counterfeit, contact the police. If uncertain, get a few witnessnesses, photograph the thing and then contact the police

I'll look for fingerprints and when found, I'll scan them and track that person to give his/her belongings back to him/her.

None of the above. I'd turn it in to the police or something. Guess I'll pick taking a night to think about it even though in reality I know what I'd do.

As for reaction... I would be surprised, however I will look for any identification card. If I find one I would turn it to the authority... if not, I would leave it where I found it. To begin with, I am not the type to snoop or even touch abandoned items.

I'd pick it up but wouldn't necessarily open it because there could be a bomb or anything inside. I'm very cautious so I would take the bag home to my mom or call her and tell her about the bag.
